| Arvato Services supports young people in India
Gurgaon / New Delhi, June 18 2008
Arvato in alliance with one its technology customers has set up a Community Training center with the aim of helping underprivileged members of society gain access to electronic media. Arvato India provides on-the-spot training and premises for the project.
On Jun 4, 08, Arvato Services India and the client celebrated the official opening of the center. "The new initiative underlines not only the strong partnership between the two companies, but also Arvato’s intention to support the client’s business and social objectives," said Andreas Krohn, Vice President Arvato Services, at the opening ceremony.
The program will offer young people from poor backgrounds instruction and continuing training via the client’s training programs. It will focus on students and young adults in the Gurgaon region. The program also aims to develop students already qualified, for example by improving certification and training towards higher levels. Each qualified student will receive a Certificate at the completion of the training program. The first group of 16 students comes from families with an annual household income between $750 and $1,800. Arvato organized this initiative with the SNS Foundation, a regional non-governmental organization that has been active for a long time in the development of work-related skills and learning.
"This new initiative reinforces Arvato’s continuing commitment to improving the living conditions in the community in cooperation with our customers and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) on the ground. When the client came to us with this idea, we did not hesitate as we are convinced that this initiative is an ideal learning platform for the community and will help train young people who do not have the necessary financial resources. With this initiative, the employees of Arvato are able to make a small contribution to improving the living conditions of many households in the community," said Ankush Bhandari, Country Manager Arvato India.
Arvato Services India has already teamed up with other non-governmental organizations in the Delhi/NCR region to train several hundred students in a permanent establishment by the end of the year. The initiative was successfully launched with the help of internal volunteers from Arvato India. The Arvato staff train the students before they start their own working day. All the trainers go through an internal selection process to ascertain their suitability as instructors.
In future Arvato India plans to grant free access to the client’s learning programs for employees and their dependents, refreshing and improving knowledge and thereby increasing work performance and productivity. |
